However, I'm really trying to find some source to say that humans aren't animals, and I'm coming up with very little... and what there is on it, it's pretty weak.

As for animals and humans acting differently brain-wise, we just recently discovered that lobsters experience pain and can even remember it (roughly three months ago). We are constantly learning about our more barbaric counterparts... like Pauleh.

Ok so after reading the 3 pages of this thread I have to say as a nurse and as someone who has had to study classification systems and take college courses on this subject you all are very sad, ignorant individuals.
I have to say that I agree with Mike and the rest of you really should open a book sometime or turn on the Discovery Channel at least.

Human are in fact animals. Are we the same as lets say a Dog or a Cat? no-thats a different classification. However WE are mammals, we have hair(same as gorillas, poodles, and other mammals), our embrios-are the same as chickens, horses, dogs, cats, etc etc. WE ALL START THE SAME just development into different organisms.
the only difference between us and the "regular dumb animals" is that we have a larger brain and took a different paths in our road of evolution. In fact we only differ from Chimpanizees by a few base pairs (ya know those things that make up our DNA-not that you know that).
WE have no issue testing on other animals and eating other animals because we are the highest on the food chain currently. Also, that was a rather ignorant statement made by whoever made that comment first (regarding the reason why we arent animals) because in the wild animals eat other animals. Lions hunt Zebras and other wild life.

If we're not animals what are we?
We are our own species...but we are not this like MAGICAL BIBLICAL LIFEFORM that is mean to rule all...(and no i do not give a shit if i just offended religious people)
