I've been going through every single one of these problems in the last 9 months.I hate to say this article is wrong when they say "we do have choices".Technically we really don't...not with this downward economy here.Whoever wrote this is right....but he's full of shit if he thinks we have choices.It's all a competition here.....there's like over 100-1000 people applying for 1 job.
I've been treated like shit in just about every job place I've been to.I'm probably one of the politest dudes anybody could talk to as well.So i know it isn't me.

yeah, ! was talking to a buddy of mine that works for AT&T, they has 3 openings and they had over 2000 resumes submitted.... but we don't have to worry, the president said the economies better...

I've been to one place 7 times.Every time i go in to check on the static of my resume if they are considering me or not,nothing is on file and they don't even know who i am.Yet they tell me to keep checking up,so that's what I'm doing.
They aren't hiring till late September,opening a new company that is being build right now.
I'm still trying to get my foot in the door still,but this shit is getting annoying because they won't tell me my update if they are considering me or not. Fucking assholes.....I swear.....

MI works is making me do it as well....There are a few jobs that say "do not call or check in"....so those i can't call in on.Least those guys are honest.
I don't mind calling in,but at least give me a straight answer and follow up on it.So many companies say they'll call you to let you know if you got the job or not never do call.

i was thinking of applying at a call center. we've got at least 6 in the general viscinity, but....i dunno. every time i've tried, i've been told i don't have enough experience, cuz...i don't have any experience, so it's like a catch22.
you can try and be a 911 dispatcher. they always need people and it pays hella good. last time i looked into it you only needed like six months call center experience or something. *shrug* it's worth lookin into.
and Grim, i'm sorry about your troubles. it's crap. you deserve better. have you and Midge talked about leaving MI. from what STR says, and from what you say, looking for a job might just be a continual losing battle. you might never find what you need. short of working for McD's or TacoBell, you might be jobless for a very long time, it seems.

Once my unemployment goes out...we are gone. Looks like we may be heading down to Texas.
