With this thread sTr gave me an idea, I have an old laptop with win2000 on it and its slow as hell due to only having 256MB ram, But I'm not gonna spend 30 or 40 quid on another 256MB of ram just so I can have 512.
Since I'd probably use this on the boat just thought A linux based system might be the way to go.
Maybe I'll make this a proper thread in general discussion as I want to add more now...Damn you sTr....
So what would I be looking at, cleaning the drive, yeah...got that on check, But what OS's are their for linux based and I'd probably be adding some charter/mapping software to plot routes and basically boat things like weather and tides and stuff while having it plugged into my other gadgets on board.

check Ubuntu or Fedora, those are the two most popular and maintained. But "Puppy" Linux is specifically made to work on older and lower end specs.
