electronics question - Willis - 07-23-2009 Here's my situation and my problem. Didn't know if anyone may have any ideas. Basically I recently got a ps3. Essentially just for blu ray. It is plugged in via hdmi. The ps3 input sounds pefect, the 360 input sounds perfect etc. It's perfect on every input except the cable box. The hdmi cable is causing a buzz when on my cable box input. The cable box is one of the hd-dvr's from comcast plugged via component cables (as is the 360). Whether or not the ps3 is on or off has no effect. But the only way that the buzzing/humming sound stops is if the hdmi cable is unplugged from the tv or the ps3(either one). Again, everything else sounds fine except for the cable box, which has the buzz/hum. I've tried putting the ps3 and cable box on different power strips(an idea from a friend) and I've tried 3 different hdmi cables. No change in the buzz/hum. In essence, it seems I have a grounding issue. Only thing that comes to mind to fix that now is a ground loop isolator, but I've only seen those for like rca jack audio cables. So, if you read all of that then kudos and thanks, and if you have a solution please tell. Re: electronics question - sTr - 07-23-2009 switch out the box, it's probably not grounded right in the box.... Re: electronics question - Willis - 07-23-2009 -will try to get a hold of another box Re: electronics question - sTr - 07-23-2009 word, the cable peeps have to let you switch them out, might as well.... Re: electronics question - Insanecowposse - 07-23-2009 also hdmi cables are better thn component wires. its one wire instead of 5 and superior quality. Re: electronics question - Ms Felony - 07-23-2009 sTr Wrote:switch out the box, it's probably not grounded right in the box.... word, i was thinking along the same lines, probably a dodgy solder joint somewhere. Re: electronics question - Stoopid Dog - 07-24-2009 -seen wires laying on wires cause funny sounds in people shit- Re: electronics question - sTr - 07-24-2009 actually, ! just remembered the fix... take the cable box off the top of you're tv, or move it away from it a bit more. what is happening is the magnets in the tv and the magnets in the box are interfering with each other, you will run into this problem a lot when it comes to VCRs, but !'ve seen it with cable/sat boxes. try that and let me know if it helps. Re: electronics question - Stoopid Dog - 07-24-2009 Agagag, word? Re: electronics question - sTr - 07-24-2009 -works all day helping people fix their stupid problems not related to my product, fuck them and their shitty grounding issues.... Re: electronics question - canttouchthis80 - 07-25-2009 i got a solution that is way superior to all just sell the ps3 and buy a 360 Re: electronics question - DamDanger - 07-25-2009 Urm, ps3>360, well except for online gaming, only place 360 excels. But yeah, I would move the box first, if thats a no go, i would swap the component cables for hdmi from cable box to tv, if that dont work, swap the box. I have also had issues with wires being to close or the boxe being to close. I try to keep it all seperated. I'm running an hd-dvr cable box, ps3, 360 all on hdmi, and i got the wii setup normal, on a 50" plasma samsung, and it is all flawless. Re: electronics question - canttouchthis80 - 07-25-2009 why do anythign thats not online xbox 360>ps3 Re: electronics question - DamDanger - 07-25-2009 ps3 runs better graphics, smoother gameplay, better system over all, i dont have 3 broken ones sitting here like the xbox, and it plays blurays. I only use 360 if i want something specifically online only, everything else goes on ps3 Re: electronics question - canttouchthis80 - 07-25-2009 i still stand behind the one point that xbox kicks ass online and i would much rather have a online game then to just play by myself all day Re: electronics question - DamDanger - 07-25-2009 depends on the game. Fallout 3, was better on ps3, but if i wanna play cod5 i go to 360. I really have no problems playing with myself. I prefer to play with others. But sometimes a man just has to fly solo in life and handle his own business. Re: electronics question - canttouchthis80 - 07-25-2009 flying solo is good sometimes but there is other times a man longs to be with others and have them help him do the bussiness |
