My Oven <electric range> Is possessed - insane - 05-07-2013
My oven for no apparent reason started sparking and shooting electric pieces of flaming metal out then started smoking catching on fire and died. I looked up online to see if anyone else had this happen and found a whole complaint page on the subject dating from 2007- now
here is the first complaint of many from that page
I have a slightly used GE Spectra -- 2 years old. I have only toasted toast in this oven -- I use the cooktop occassionally. An entire coil started on fire while I was toasting toast. The entire coil completely burned out. The fire department had to come. This is virtually a NEW stove.
I had to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher -- and the stove is ruined, as far as I'm concerned. I do not trust it for any further use. I would recommend anyone who owns a Spectra be very, very wary of the coils.

This is why you don't skimp on appliances. Lol
And yeah, once you've had to use a fire extinguisher on it, it's probably okay to deem it no longer fit for use.
Glad nothing burned down and you're alright though.

It was jalapeno bacon cheddar fries like in Chili's I even made a video about it but I won't bore you with that I just remember I ended the video with I don't know how much a pyrex baking pan costs but I know I am buying her a new one.
This one did happen on its own though. Dumbest thing I ever did cooking was the trying to boil an egg in the microwave thing. 10 minutes on high and then for some reason it waited for me to open the door to explode in my face and all over the kitchen.
