according to wikipedia he's only hiv positive (not like it's a huge difference), and there's very few documented cases of people contracting the disease from sports-related contact/injuries.
I guess they figure as long of they're aware of the people playing that have the disease and can take the necessary steps to handle the situation if any potential risks were to occur, the risk of it being spread are minimal.
