Sounded like he really thought he was right though. Is this how it works? When you're wrong, you just say, "lol jk yo it's the innanet."
I thought this topic was pretty serious, so I gave an honest reply. And then I get called stupid. I respond by telling the person they're neglecting important pieces of info, and I get told I'm being too serious.

Didn't call you stupid, nor do I think you're stupid. On the other hand, i've known TJ for the better part of a decade and if you really knew anything about him, he really is an intelligent person. If you think I was being serious, my bad, but I thought the whole "i've read none of this post...." part of my original statement would have been kind of a dead give away that I wasn't exactly being serious. My apologies, next time I will try harder to clarify what is a joke and what is not.

You are not playing a devil's advocate at all - you have far deviated from your original statement which was:
"Science has always separated humans from animals via the ability to reason."
I, and others, have presented facts to you that disprove your original statement, and in self-preservation you have twisted the argument towards implications, which has nothing to do with the quoted statement. Science does not separate humans from animals, as homo sapien sapiens are members of the great ape family, which is a mammalian family. Biologists classify animals by common genetics - not via the ability to reason. This is biology I learned in 7th grade.
I have absolutely no idea why you are bringing in legality of human experimentation or theology, which has NOTHING to do with your original argument. If you want to argue how CULTURES separate humans from animals, then surely one would have to consider their scientific knowledge, legal system, as well as their religious beliefs. That's an entirely different debate.
