Re: WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION? - Autumn - 06-14-2009

OMFG If I had a teacher who said "What up ninja?" I'd fall in love. ahaha.

Yeah, misconceptions of juggalos are imminent (sp?). Most people think we're uneducated whores/drug dealers, etc etc. Alas, I do agree with a lot of juggalettes being whores. ahaha. *shrugs* It's whatever.

HAHAHAHA. No, they don't. They need to take their boards and work for a few years before they make THAT much. Unless the places near you are that desperate. We had a technician assistant that worked in CCU at my hospital for 4 years... from high school into college. She just got her RN degree and now has to take the boards. Working right now she only makes $18 an hour SINCE she doesn't have all the credentials yet. Fresh out of school, my ass dude.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION? - Toxic Love - 06-16-2009

I called out today. Sunday pissed me off too much since we were insanely busy and I was just not in the mood.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION? - juggalogigolo - 06-16-2009

sucks

Re: WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION? - Autumn - 06-16-2009

Aren't you always busy though, Kelly? It's an emergency clinic, right?

Re: WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION? - Toxic Love - 06-16-2009

Yeah but not to the point where we had a 4 hour wait. The last time we had a 4 hour wait for emergencies was Labor Day last year. That night I worked a 19 hour shift. Sunday I stayed 3 hours late along with 2 other techs that were supposed to leave at midnight with me. I was also scheduled to work ICU but was pulled between that and triage due to the overwhelming insanity.

So no, it sucked balls. And whenever that happens, I am calling out.

I was smart for 4th of July. We get a fresh new class of intern vets fresh out of vet school this week. 4th of July is always crazy... especially with interns who are unsure of EVERYTHING. I decided to sign up for CCU since they can't pull me out of there for anything and the craziness is contained to the box we call CCU. :)

Re: WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION? - Autumn - 06-16-2009

I wanted to go vet school.. but I'm thinking I'm too old and can't afford it now. I was thinking about doing a vet tech program, amongst other things. We'll see how that goes.

i was making $15/hr as an anesthesia tech with no college and no certifications

around metro-detroit, RNs average $30-40/hr (i think my ma makes like $35.50 or something like that), CRNAs pull twice that

you're not really an RN or CRNA until you pass your boards.. yeah you have a degree but you're not going to find a job until you're certified.. i took an EMT-Basic course my senior year of high school and aced it, set the grading curve on the final exam, ect. but never took my state boards so i'm not really an EMT-B, i just have the training)

i know that before you can even be accepted into an anesthesia program (which is 18 months long), you have to work as an RN for a minimum of 2 years

but after graduation and passing boards, 85k/yr isn't too far off

i know the hospital i used to work at posted openings for CRNAs at $70-80/hr

and just a little tid-bit i dug up -

http://www.crnajobs.com/ Wrote:Forty percent of CRNA salary survey respondents said their 2007 income was about the same as (25%), or less than (15%), their income in 2006. However, 60 percent reported an income increase between 2006 and 2007. Thirty-seven percent reported a raise of 2 to 9 percent and 23 percent reported an increase of 10 percent or more.

Overall 2008 CRNA annual compensation averaged $163,467.30, roughly 92 percent of the average $178,084 for 2007 CRNA respondents to the LocumTenens.com nurse anesthetist salary survey. While 54 percent of respondents were employer-based, 42 percent had worked as a locum tenens provider and 32 percent reported working on a locum tenens or contract basis exclusively.

Like 2007 survey participants, this year's rural nurse anesthetist salary survey respondents reported the highest salary average relative to the metro or suburban CRNA salary averages reported:

*Rural average $174,214.30

*Metro average $164,148.80

*Suburban average $156,630.70

Twenty-five percent of 2008 CRNA salary survey respondents reported practicing in rural areas; the rest of this year's CRNA respondents were almost evenly split between major metro areas (38%) and suburban areas (37%).

Most 2008 CRNA respondents (84%) said they would choose medicine as a career again if given the choice.

so yes, 85k/yr fresh out of school with your certifications

actually $114,008 according to http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Nurse_Anesthetist_(CRNA)/Salary

i used to make 16 an hour before i got my d.u.i. i used to drive a box truck for an auto parts company. i only had to work 2 days a week and got 40 hours a week even if i only worked 12.. and the best thing was it was all local driving. i usually got through in about 3 hours a day. i fuckin loved that job but they fired me for getting a d.u.i...
