working retail is the worst with holidays... once summer starts, all the halloween/thangsgiving/xmas stuff is pushed out, and then 2 weeks after christmas is over, they start getting bathing suit shipments in.

I have this theory...
The reason retail sucks is because it takes the human intelligence out of shopping.
Check it out...
They used to hire people that knew what the hell they were talking about. They knew about TVs, about tailoring clothes, etc, etc. Sure there was some bullshitting involved, but they knew what they were talking about. And that made the consumer want to show up with some knowledge so they don't get screwed.
So now you got an educated consumer, and a professional salesman.
What you get nowadays is an "i just need the money, man" tech school dropout that doesn't give a fuck if they're selling condoms or televisions. They get no commission. The company doesn't even care about selling high end merchandise, they just want you to push credit cards and financing with high interest.
The customer knows this. So they show up without doing a lot of research. (I'm sorry, googling brands and comparing prices is NOT being an educated consumer. Knowing where the parts come from and what the inner workings or stitching is like is being educated).
In addition to that... the consumer, 9 times out of 10 is miserable with their life, and is using shopping to escape misery, and they take it out on the poor salespeople that are expected to stand there and tolerate it.
Also, these fucking companies spend millions of dollars hiring analysts to figure out what's the LEAST amount of money they can give their employees, while still allowing them to make it to work and eat a meal and a half per day.
It's modern slave labor, really.
Long story short, I worked for Best Buy for 1 week after I graduated, and I nearly became a serial killer.
God bless anyone that can successfully survive with a job in retail.
