risky business - sTr - 08-21-2009

word, today ! rotted my G1, not too big of a deal, but could have bricked my shit. Got a few cool new features(WiFi, New Camera/Camcorder Settings, new Themes). But the point of this thread is what is the last risky thing you did to something expensive you own?

besides this, it would probably be modding my wii, had to open the bitch up and connect the mod chip and all that. but the results were bad ass, free games all around. now how about you blacks?

Well...

I know how to install a regular head unit into a car. Well, my current car, isn't XM ready so I had to go out and get an XM ready head unit. Little did I know it was a mindfuck and a half to re-wire the God damn stereo for it. THEN I had to take off the dash to run the antenna wire underneath it so it wouldn't be hanging out.

So... taking apart my car is probably the riskiest thing I did to something expensive... other than tail/headlights, air intake, belts, etc. But those aren't risky if you know how to do it.

that story actually reminds me of a different story, this one was a bad luck story, it was bullshit and a half... ! $750 at the casino off of $5 and ! had my eye on this internal ir receiver for my computer for my media center. So ! get this fuckin thing, hook it up, it was like 4 cords, one to the board for power and a few in other misc spots and what not. so ! power my computer on and it just sits at the boot screen, figured !'d give it a minute and my g/f calls my into the kitchen. When ! came back ! could smell smoke, but it seemed like it was coming from the kitchen, regardless ! opened up my case, everything looked good, checked connections, then restarted. ! left the room again, and this time when ! came back(about 1 min later) my pc was billowing smoke out of it. Damn $30 ir receiver made me spend $150 on a new motherboard, melted wired and bullshit...
