Because as a free user on these sites you are only alowed to download so much at a time.
they are on multiple host so you can download 1 part from each host and get your shit quicker.
Basicly because you noobs are to cheap to buy a awsome rapidshare premium account and become elite downloaders.

Rapidshare is private hosting even they don't know what you are downloading.
Far safer than any other method.
people only get cought for downloading from places like torrents and other p2p.

The price for a 1 month acount is 5 euros or somthing (obviously cheaper if you get a longer account)
Look at it as a awsome upgrade to the internet that guarentees you everything downloads as fast as your net can handle. .
