So this happened about 10 miles from my house. I'm reading that people for 20 miles heard it. Supposedly a gas leak. Rumors are flying about meth labs, plane crash, etc.

How did a leak occur in several homes at once? That doesn't make sense.
Or was the explosion in the pipework under ground bellow the properties? If so that's not apparent in the pics where the ground looks undisturbed.
Are you sure it's not that one house exploded taking out several other houses beside it because they are made of wood?
I can imagine a gas explosion being heard over that distance. I heard one from the other side of town real loud a few years back..loud as hell.
