wouldn't he have to be in the NFL to break the record officially? like, he may have broken the record for the longest field goal, but aren't they two separate records?

Thats pretty decent seeming that NFL kickers can only land like 50 yards or so.

PORT ST. LUCIE — Fabrizio Scaccia had to beg St. Lucie coach Bob Simmons to let him attempt a 68-yard field goal in a close Florida Football Alliance game against Brevard on Saturday.
Simmons' decision to let the St. Lucie West Centennial graduate kick it resulted in the second longest field goal ever made — a yard off the record — and helped push St. Lucie to a 10-0 regular-season finish.
"(Simmons) wanted to punt the ball away, but I told him I wanted to try it," Scaccia said. "At first he said no because we were only up 10 points at the time. I told him I could do it, and he looked at me for like 10 seconds, and yelled out field goal. I thought, I can't let him down now.
"I went out there, kicked it and it would have gone for 75. I crushed it right down the middle. ... It's crazy. I still can't believe I made it."
