Graphics cards - LuckyNumbrXIII - 09-16-2012

Can they die of old age? My computer from 2008's card just got fried. Havent done anything too strenuous or out of the ordinary. It just kinda came back from sleep mode and everything is fucked.

Can happen. Any component can die.
You will need to troubleshoot to identify that the card is actually the problem.

Re: Graphics cards - sTr - 09-20-2012

-it's happened to me before... it's more likely if there isn't proper ventilation inside the case, it's not too hard for them to overheat

That's why I never put my computer on sleep/hibernate.

Re: Graphics cards - LuckyNumbrXIII - 09-20-2012

Ok the symptoms were:

Fonts were all weird and colorful, and looked like a cross between my little pony and zalgo.

Screen kept flashing black.

It stopped doing it now.

I dunno what the hell happened.

Why should I not use sleep mode now? I was told that's better than shutting down and starting up every time you use it.

Re: Graphics cards - Paullehh - 09-20-2012

Sounds like a ram issue more than the GLP itself.
Run Memstest86 if you have any further problems.
And try just reseating the ram.

Re: Graphics cards - TheGreenBK - 09-20-2012

Shutting down flushes out the RAM. Sleep keeps the memory in RAM until you shut down. You're also using RAM in sleep mode as well.
